Name: Rachel Stahl
Position: Executive Assistant
Number of Years @ IDCS: 17
What is the most inspiring part of your job? I love watching the kids grow throughout their years here at IDCS. I also love when I get to inform a family that has been on the waiting list for a long time that their child finally got a spot in the school.
Family, Pets, Home: My husband and I have been together for 25 years. We live in Sprague with our two youngest children Nala who is 15 and Lex, who is 9 and currently in 4th grade at IDCS. Our adult sons Logan and Larkin (24 and 21) live on their own. All four of our children attended IDCS! We have one dog, Tank, two cats, Thor and Enid and one Turtle, Jeremy.
Hobbies, Skills, Talents OR what do you like to do when you are not working? I enjoy oil painting, drawing, reading and spending time with my family outside. I am a person of polar opposites and love the woods as much as the ocean. I also really like getting into shows or movies with my kids. My daughter and I watch Euphoria and Stranger Things and my son and I are currently watching the whole Marvel universe of movies and shows as well as continuing our Star Wars watching journey with Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Who is someone you admire and why? I admire people who are able to start over after making disastrous life choices or after having difficult life experiences.
If time travel and long distance space travel were possible and all fictional worlds were real. What place and/or time would you visit and what would you do while you were there? I would for certain love to travel into the world of any fantasy book series such as the worlds in The Kingkiller Chronicle or The Demon Cycle.
What is something you want to learn more about? So many things, but I would love to learn a couple of languages so that I could travel the world and be able to easily communicate with different cultures. I would also love to learn how to tattoo, not as a job - because I would never want to “art” for work, but just so I could give myself a new tattoo whenever I wanted one! Also I would love to learn how to blow glass as well as make stained class windows and/or creations.
If you had to eat only one food for the rest of your life what would it be? Pizza from any local “mom and pop” shop.
If you were a new addition to the crayon box, what color would you be and why? Sweater Grey (yes with an “e”), after my favorite grey button up sweater I owned as a teenager. It would be a mood crayon and would change hue according to your mood because grey can have so many variances and moods in between black and white.
Anything else? I love rainy days.
