    • Applicants will be placed on the waiting list in the order in which they are received.
    • lottery is held every April for all potential Pre-K students who will be 4 years old by September 1st of the upcoming school year.  Applications are accepted for the lottery starting in September of the prior year.  Applications must be in by the lottery deadline.  Available Pre-K spots are filled in order by when the student's assigned number is pulled in the lottery.  Once all spots are filled, the remaining students in the lottery will be placed on a waiting list in the order that they are drawn.
    • Younger siblings of current IDCS students do not need to enter the lottery to receive a spot in the IDCS Pre-K.  However, parents must fill out a student application and clearly indicate that the child is a sibling of a current student.  Applications must be in by the lottery deadline in order to hold a spot for any incoming Pre-K siblings.
    • Children of staff members who have been employed for one year or longer do not need to enter the lottery to receive a spot in the IDCS Pre-K.  However, parents must fill out a student application and clearly indicate that the child is a child of a staff member.  Applications must be in by the lottery deadline in order to hold a spot for any incoming Pre-K staff member's children.
    • Any applications received after the lottery will be placed on the waiting list in the order in which they are received.
  • Applications received after the lottery are placed on the waiting list in the order in which they are received.

Each summer, the waiting list rolls forward to the next grade level. For example, if a child is on the Pre-K waiting list and is not admitted, they will move to the Kindergarten waiting list the following year, then to the 1st grade waiting list the year after, and so on.

After the lottery process, students in grades PK–5 may be admitted only if a currently enrolled IDCS student leaves and a space becomes available. While it is not uncommon for families to remain on the waiting list for multiple years, some lists do move more quickly depending on enrollment changes.

Enrollment increases at Grade 6, and IDCS typically admits an additional 5–7 students at that grade level.

If a student is admitted to IDCS and has siblings on the waiting list, those siblings will be moved into the sibling section of the waiting list, behind any siblings already listed in that category.

Each grade-level waiting list is organized into the following priority sections:

    1. Siblings of current IDCS students
    2. Children of IDCS staff members employed for one year or longer
    3. Siblings of IDCS graduates who graduated within the past four years
    4. Traditional applicants (not included in the above categories)

Families are responsible for keeping contact information up to date. If IDCS is unable to reach you using the contact information on file, we will assume you are no longer interested and your child’s name will be removed from the waiting list.

Questions regarding the waiting list should be directed to Rachel Stahl at rachels@idcs.org or 860-892-1900 ext. 445.
