At IDCS, our curriculum is designed to be engaging, rigorous, and responsive to the needs of the whole child. Our integrated, multi-age approach connects academic learning with the arts, research, critical thinking, and meaningful real-world experiences. Curriculum Guides

  • Kindergarten

    Kindergarten at IDCS builds strong foundations in literacy, math, social-emotional growth, and inquiry through joyful, hands-on learning.

  • Grade 1

    First grade students strengthen literacy and math skills while growing as independent, confident learners through research, collaboration, and creative problem-solving.

  • Grades 2 & 3 (Integrated) Year A

    Students in Grades 2 & 3 learn together in an integrated classroom through the Year A curriculum cycle, building collaboration, independence, and deeper learning across subject areas.

  • Grades 2 & 3 (Integrated) Year B

    Students in Grades 2 & 3 continue learning together through the Year B curriculum cycle, exploring a different sequence of themes and learning experiences while building the same core academic skills.

  • Grades 4 & 5 (Integrated) Year A

    Students in Grades 4 & 5 learn together through the Year A curriculum cycle, strengthening independence, leadership, critical thinking, and collaboration across subject areas.

  • Grades 4 & 5 (Integrated) Year B

    Students in Grades 4 & 5 continue through the Year B curriculum cycle with a new sequence of themes and learning experiences that deepen academic skills, curiosity, and confidence.

  • Grade 6

    Grade 6 students deepen critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and research skills while exploring increasingly complex concepts through interdisciplinary learning.

  • Grades 7 & 8 (Integrated) Year A

    Students in Grades 7 & 8 learn together through the Year A curriculum cycle, strengthening leadership, independence, critical thinking, and collaboration through challenging coursework and meaningful research.

  • Grades 7 & 8 (Integrated) Year B

    Students in Grades 7 & 8 continue through the Year B curriculum cycle with new themes, projects, and learning experiences that deepen academic skills, independence, and critical thinking.

Understanding Our Curriculum

At Integrated Day Charter School, our curriculum is intentionally designed to inspire curiosity, encourage critical thinking, and foster a lifelong love of learning. Grounded in our mission and educational tenets, our instructional program integrates rigorous academic standards with authentic, hands-on learning experiences that help students make meaningful connections across subject areas.

One of the distinctive features of the IDCS educational model is our integrated multi-age classroom structure. Many of our classrooms operate on an A Year/B Year curriculum cycle, allowing students to experience a unique sequence of themes, projects, and instructional units each year they are in the classroom. This approach provides comprehensive coverage of grade-level standards while promoting collaboration, leadership, and deeper understanding through a rich, integrated learning experience.

Our curriculum is built around the school's core tenets, including Research, Integration of the Arts, Responsive Classroom, Critical Pedagogy, Families as Partners, and Environmental Stewardship. These guiding principles are woven throughout instruction to create engaging, relevant learning experiences that prepare students to become thoughtful problem-solvers, effective communicators, and responsible citizens.

At IDCS, curriculum development is an ongoing, collaborative process. Dedicated curriculum committees regularly review instructional materials, student performance data, classroom assessments, current educational research, and feedback from students, families, faculty, and other stakeholders. This continuous cycle of reflection and improvement ensures that our curriculum remains innovative, responsive, and aligned with best practices while meeting the evolving needs of our students.
